Daddy returned to work this week. So last week we made the best of having him home. Michela finished swim lessons with a big splash.
Penelope, you loved daring the water to get you and when the waves came you ran away screaming. After a while you let the waves knock you down and enjoyed the water. After you were soaking wet you ran to the dry sand where you began rolling. You were covered in sand. Covered.
Michela, being true to yourself made a friend. Two friends actually. The 3 of you (one friend at a time and Penelope) splashed in the waves and ran around. I was impressed that you actually remembered to ask for your friends' names. You must be growing up. :)
Colin my man. You surprised me most of all. I didn't expect you to want to go in the water. Even though the waves were small in my mind they were still taller than you. That didn't stop you from crawling INTO the waves. I was exhausted lifting you up as the waves came. I didn't pick you off the sand, just put you in a standing position so you wouldn't be swept away. You loved it. Every minute of it. Once the main crash of the wave passed I sat you down in the water where you went crazy with laughter and splashing.
We all agreed that the beach was the best part of our day. The boardwalk was fun, but we were really able to let loose on the beach. We were coated in salt water and covered in sand but the laughter and fun we shared was worth every piece of sand that was stuck where sand shouldn't be.
It was a great end to Daddy's summer break.
With all my love,
Mommy
