You did it!

Dear Michela,

Last week you started rolling from your back to your side so it's only a matter of time before you make it from your back to your tummy.   Yesterday you started lifting your head and chest off the ground during tummy time and today you're rolling over!  You did it!  You rolled from your tummy to your back this morning two times!  Daddy even got to see you do it before he left for work! This was after your first night sleeping with your arms un-swaddled.  We are so proud of you!

Last night I decided to give you an opportunity to sleep with your arms free because you have been waking yourself up by breaking out of your swaddle. Yow know what; I think it was a success.  You woke up 3 times.  Not too shabby Meeka.  I think you'll do even better tonight!  For now your preferred sleeping position is on your back with both arms above your head.  You're so cute!

You're my growing girl!

I love you!

Love,

Mommy

Dear Michela,

Last week was a great one.  Tuesday your uncle Kyle and great grandma Doti came by and had lunch with us.  It was great to see them and they sure loved seeing you!  They were visiting your great uncle Mark and stopped by to see you on their way back home.

This last week you also tried out 2 new toys.  The first toy was given to you by our friend Shirin.  You like the music and lights!  You decided to skip over rolling, sitting alone, and crawling and head right into standing!  Well, not really.  I stood you up and quickly took a picture before you toppled over.  Don't worry, I caught you before you fell down.

The next toy was given to you by someone Daddy used to work with.  I put a thick book under your feet because you're a little short for it.  You seemed to enjoy your jumper!  I think once you start grabbing things you'll love this toy as well as the one Shirin gave you.

I was beginning to think that the one characteristic you inherited from me was hating baths.  I used to hate taking baths when I was a little girl and you don't really enjoy them either.  I guess it's karma because I used to scream when Nana gave me my baths.  You don't scream but your certainly not sure of the water.  We started using the euro bath (a big plastic baby tub) but I thought there was too much water for such a little girl.  You weren't fond of the tub either.  So I bought a sponge seat for the kitchen sink.  We started using the sink for a while but you still didn't enjoy your baths.  Finally, I found a solution to your fear of the water and started washing you in a small plastic tub / bucket.  You haven't cried during a bath since the change.  I don't know how long we can bathe you in this tub because you barely fit in it now!  You will notice in the picture that behind your head is a cutting board with a kitchen towel over it to support your head if you need it.  I'm so glad you don't mind taking baths anymore!  I did not like upsetting you but I had to clean out your neck cheese so your neck wouldn't develop a rash.  Look how happy you are now!

You are one adorable little girl.  Your daddy and I love you very much!

Keep growing strong Michela!

I love you!

Love,

Mommy

The Great Outdoors

Dear Michela,

We had an active week.  On Monday you, Daddy, and I went to Villa Montalvo for a hike.  Turns out that the trails are not safe for strollers and we didn't bring the ergo carrier.  So we took the trails that were safe and walked the grounds.  It's a beautiful place and we would love to take you back with the ergo.

Today we began our baby boot camp and you were a trooper!  You rode all over Las Palmas Park in your stroller, watched mommy do jumping jacks, squats, push ups, and use arm bands (a big rubber band).  After an hour of running around with other babies you got out of the stroller and sat on my stomach while I did sit ups.  That was your favorite part.  You sat on my stomach and laughed at me!  Did I really look that goofy doing sit-ups?  It doesn't matter because your laugh, made me laugh, and gave me a more difficult workout.

This afternoon we joined Daddy in the watermelon run at Fremont High School.  You found yourself in the stroller once again for a stroll outside.  Daddy had fun showing you off to everyone and you had a nice nap. I'm sorry you didn't get your watermelon.  I promise to make it up to you when you're off your liquid diet.  =)

I love you Michela,

Mommy

3 months old

Dear Michela,

Today you are 3 months old!  It is amazing how much you have grown in the last 3 months.  You are now wanting and willing to stand up on our laps; your neck is getting stronger and you can hold your head up; you're talking more often; and you are smiling and laughing!

You are a beautiful baby and I love spending my days (and nights) with you.

Happy 3 months!

I love you,

Mommy
I love the monthly pictures.
It looks like a progression of a smile from Newborn to 3 months!
