Theme Song

Dear Colin,

If a baby were to have a theme song, "Good Morning" from Singing in the Rain is yours.  I sing this song to you and your sisters but I usually change the lyrics to "Good morning, Good morning, we've slept the whole night through..."  I can't sing my version to you.  I see too much of you in the wee hours of the morning to sing my version.  So I'll go back to the original, "Good morning, Good morning, it's fun to stay up late..."

I would love for you to sleep better.  I have no problems waking up 2 times a night with you.  Too bad those nights are long gone.  A good night these days are 3-4 wake ups between 6pm and 6am.  Someday we'll get back to only waking up twice.  Then there will be a time when you only wake up once.  And then there will be a time when you sleep through the night.  I know I will sleep again.  So until then, I'll keep singing our song.

With all my love,

Mommy

Preschooler

Dear Michela,

You love preschool.  The other night you woke me up at 2:30 in the morning and asked if it was time to go to preschool.  Nope, not for another 6.5 hours!!!

I love that you enjoy preschool so much.  I was warned by Teacher Anees that you like to tell her stories about home.  She told me that we should be careful because you will share.  We don't have anything to hide so I'm guessing you shared a story Daddy shared with you about his childhood.  He recently told you about the time he had a stick in his ear from climbing over a fence.  In telling your story about Daddy you probably didn't mention that it was a story from his childhood.  I suppose that story could sound scandalous if they didn't know that it happened when he was a kid.

I like that you're a social butterfly at school.  You are confidant and hold your own.  You look forward to going to preschool everyday (and apparently night too).  :)

I hope you continue to love school since you have many more years of it.

With all my love,

Mommy

4 Months

Dear Colin,

We had your 4 month appointment today and you weren't too pleased with either Dr. Yen or the nurse.  You did not like that Dr. Yen looked in your ears or pressed on your stomach.  And the nurse was the one to give you 3 shots and an oral vaccine.  You cried for 30 seconds but settled down right away.  Penelope was jealous that you got to have 3 bandaids and she didn't get any.

You are my little man.  You seem to be staying track with being in the 15th percentile for weight and 32nd percentile for height.  You do have a big noggin and in the 88th percentile for your head circumference.  :)

While taking your month picture yesterday I had to stay close by because you kept trying to sit up on your own!  You would lean forward, I would jump, and you would laugh.  It worked well for pictures but I think I have a few more grey hairs.  :)  Maybe next month we'll take pictures on the floor.

Love you little man!

With all my love,

Mommy
